Abducted Edo Teachers Regain Freedom After Payment Of N5m Ransom

After two weeks in the kidnappers’ den, three female primary school teachers abducted at Orhogbua Primary School, Ekehuan, village, Edo state, finally regained their freedom on Tuesday morning.
The teachers, Patience Osadoplor, Momodu Aisha and Patience Oroghene were seized at gunpoint from the school on 30 July, but were released at about 3 a.m. on Tuesday at the Ekhehuan axis of the state, according to reports.
They were said to have called members of their family who went to pick them up after they were released on payment of ransom.
Their abductors had initially demanded for N60 million ransom for their release, but the amount was later reduced to N7.5 million.
Report of how much ransom was paid to secure the teachers’ release could not be immediately confirmed, but sources say the sum of N5m was paid to the kidnappers.
